The Swan Centre is an outpatient clinic providing up-to-date individual, family and group-based therapy. We provide collaborative care for the full range of eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and associated issues. All of our clinicians are highly trained in eating disorder therapies, and include clinical psychologists, dietitians, occupational therapists and psychiatrists. We also provide support and education for parents, families and caregivers, health professionals, schools and the broader community.
We provide therapies for people with…
- Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder (BED);
- Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID; βsevere fussy eatingβ) and food phobias
- Other specified eating and feeding disorders, OSFED (e.g., purging disorder, night eating syndrome
- Constant worries about weight or shape.
- Pre and/or post bariatric surgery support.
- Body dysmorphia β persistent and intrusive thoughts relating to an imagined or slight defect in oneβs body or appearance.
- Poor body image
- Problems with excessive and/or driven exercise.
- Constant intrusive thoughts about exercise.
- High levels of distress if unable to exercise.
- Rigid routines relating to exercise that cause problems in daily life.
- βOrthorexiaβ β obsession with healthy eating
- Fear of eating in public
- Chronic dieting
- Fear of vomiting (emetophobia)
